Chris Endfinger, MD highlights incredible work of Compassion International

Emergency room doctor and missionary Chris Endfinger, MD provides a closer look at the work of Compassion International’s holistic child development sponsorship program.

Christ-centered, child-focused, and church-based, respected emergency room doctor and missionary Chris Endfinger, MD is a proud supporter of holistic child development sponsorship program Compassion International. Here, the highly skilled physician, now with more than 20 years of experience, offers a closer look at the organization and its work.

“Compassion International’s holistic child development via sponsorship program has been carefully designed to release children from social, economic, physical, and spiritual poverty,” explains Dr. Endfinger, an emergency room physician and member of CrossBridge Church of Christ based in Birmingham, Alabama.

Compassion International, he says, revolutionized the fight against such poverty by rooting their program for children exclusively in local churches. “Compassion International,” Dr. Endfinger reveals, “is also the only sponsorship program in existence to be thoroughly validated via wholly independent, empirical research.”

The organization is currently partnered with more than 7,000 churches in 25 countries around the world. “Through these partnerships, Compassion International is able to routinely and repeatedly release more than 1.8 million children and youngsters from poverty in the name of Jesus,” adds emergency room physician Chris Endfinger, MD.

According to the organization, children and young adults in poverty are the most at risk of sickness, malnutrition, and exploitation. “They can, however, experience the love of Jesus,” Dr. Endfinger explains, “through the life-saving gift of food, medical care, and protection provided by Compassion International and its supporters.”

When sponsoring a child, Compassion International’s supporters’ monthly donations provide life-changing opportunities such as the chance to attend or stay in school, nourishing food, potentially life-saving medical care, mentoring, and a safe space in a local evangelical church. “Here,” adds Dr. Endfinger, “they also receive the opportunity to hear the gospel.”

The organization has earned a Charity Navigator GuideStar’s Platinum Seal of Transparency by voluntarily sharing the measures of progress and results it uses to pursue its mission.

Organizations earn a Platinum Seal of Transparency by selecting from a catalog of almost 1,000 expert recognized metrics—or by creating a brand new metric of their own—that best fits their work. “GuideStar is currently the world’s number one source of information surrounding nonprofit organizations,” adds Chris Endfinger, MD, wrapping up, “and is dedicated to providing what it calls, ‘better data, for better decisions, for a better world.'”
